Beware & Prepare
Halloween is back on Baxter!
For the past 15 years, we've turned our yard into Halloween Headquarters.
We were decorating with more enthusiasm (and extension cords) each year! What started as a few spooky touches slowly grew into a full-blown tradition.
Families have driven through our driveway, snapped photos, and made memories (sometimes even more photos than we’ve taken of our own kids).
At some point, we even added a donation code to our fence to raise money for charity (because nothing says scary these days like doing good)!
In 2022, things reached peak Halloween: Fox 17 covered our biggest display ever! Our decorations grew, our donations to charity grew, and so did everyone’s kids...including ours.
Last year, for the first time, we didn’t decorate. Our youngest graduated, I wasn’t feeling my best, and frankly, the giant skeletons were tired too. But you noticed. We got Facebook messages, door knocks, and more check-ins than when I had surgery (true story). You all showed us incredible love and reminded us just how much this little tradition means to everyone.
We also heard loud and clear...the little ones missed the magic. So this year, I’m back at it! I can’t promise the most epic setup, some of those animatronics are older than TikTok (but not older than Napster). I can promise that decorations will return for the kids (and grown-up kids) who still get excited.
Though our children are off living their best lives, I hope your kids and grandkids continue to find joy in our little display. Thank you for checking on us, cheering us on, and letting us be part of your family’s Halloween memories. Here’s to year 16!

Past Haunts
Although I'm a big fan of Home Depot's Halloween products, I also have always enjoyed making props for some of our haunts!
Our family favorite Home Depot display is pictured in the top left, followed by home made and repurposed props. The crawling demogorgon was my favorite prop to make and you'll find him on display only during the month of October.
